Sworn translation with official validity

What a sworn translation is

A sworn translation is the translation of an official document by a sworn translator-interpreter authorised by the Ministry. It carries the translator’s certification, signature and stamp; the translator is responsible for its faithfulness and accuracy.

It is the only type of translation accepted by Spanish authorities, courts, universities and registries for documents issued in another language. Order AEC/2125/2014 regulates its format, and the official list of authorised translators is public.

We deliver the translation as a PDF with the translator’s qualified electronic signature, valid for online filing, and on paper with the original stamp when the authority requires it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to legalise the sworn translation? No. A sworn translation by a translator appointed by the Ministry is valid throughout Spain with no further legalisation or apostille. What may need an apostille is the foreign original document.

Can I send a photo of the document? Yes, as long as it is legible and complete, including stamps and reverse sides. For paper delivery, the translator attaches a copy of the document translated.

How do I know the translator is authorised? Each translation includes the sworn translator’s name and registration number, which you can check on the Ministry’s public list.

How long does it take? Short documents, 24–48 working hours. Long files, the committed date shown when ordering. An urgent option with surcharge is available.

What happens to my data? Your documents are stored encrypted, only the assigned translator and the manager can access them, and attachments are never emailed: they are downloaded from the portal through expiring links. They are deleted when the retention period ends.
